This was the patch when I arrived in the squadron
in 1998, and this was the secondy patch in command history since
the 1979 commision. The first one was green. I painted this pictured
patch on the side of Hangar 115 at NAS JAX.
Then the squadron transitioned to C-40A aircraft
and we needed a new patch. The train tracks in the patch represented
the C-9B, Skytrain 2. There was a squadron wide contest. I designed
this patch. Changed squadron colors to Gator colors, put on a
clipper, and had the globe. Rumor from above was my design won
the contest handsdown.

The Skipper at the time, CDR Weistroffer choose
the second place design by an AT2 Parker that worked in ADP.

He didn't have to do, but he did seek me out to
explain to me his reasoning was to keep the patch closer to the
orginal for easy recognition fleet wide. I joked back that when
I was Skipper at VR58 in the future, I'll change the patch to
my design, and he laughed. He did tell me to put my spin on the
approved design for offical use, and I used the orginal colors.

And this is how VR-58 got the above patch, well,
as I remember it atleast. . . This Patch was painted on Hangar
1000 Section 5 1st breeze way by the direction of AEC Steve Junger
by AD1 Jim Davis and AME2 Mike Kehrer.
